Inner Banks Media was formed in 2007 by veteran North Carolina broadcasters to own and operate radio stations in the eastern part of the state.  The principals in the start up of IBX Media were Henry Hinton and Hank Hinton (pic right) who were and continue to be the owner/operators and Legendary Raleigh Broadcaster Don Curtis who divested his interest in 2017.

The company was born on an ideology of making the stations LOCAL in nature and “super serving” the communities in the market with good programming and effective marketing opportunities.

The original four stations (all FM) were WTIB, WRHT, WNBU and WRHD.  WNCT was added to the group in 2017.

The Greenville, New Bern, Jacksonville NC metro has a population of 587,000.  Inner Banks Media stations are able to reach over one million listeners throughout all of Eastern North Carolina. According to Nielsen the market is the largest by land area in the US. The metro is made up of 9 counties and takes 90 minutes to drive from one side to the other.  Due to long commutes, radio leads other mediums in the market.  There are four daily newspapers and a splintered TV and cable market. There is significant influx of out of market network TV stations and numerous cable systems.

Inner Banks Media is locally owned, locally operated & active in the communities of Eastern NC.  Inner Banks Media owns and operates 5 FM Radio Stations, one low power FM translator and 1 local cable television station that covers the eastern side of North Carolina from the Virginia border all the way to Wilmington NC on the southern border of the state.

Inner Banks Media’s overall radio footprint in the Eastern part of the United States is not only massive from a geographical coverage standpoint, but the most listened to within the range of our cumulative station signal coverage areas.
